I am hitting the reset button after an amazing time skiing in the French Alps with family. I love French cuisine and don't think I've enjoyed my food as much as I did last week. I loved the feeling of being active and outdoors in the freshest air all day and then eating the most delicious meals. I went a little off piste on the healthy eating front, which is absolutely fine by me but am now in need of a post holiday detox, so started today with this fruit and seed salad and a shot of chlorella 💚
This fruit salad is made up of blackberries, pomegranate seeds, raspberries and black sable grapes, 1 teaspoon chia seeds and 1 teaspoon of hemp seeds. Takes a few minutes to make and tastes delicious. Add coconut yoghurt (I use Coyo) and a drizzle of maple syrup or Biona Organic Brown Rice Syrup if you like.
I use freeze dried powdered chlorella and mix a teaspoon with water. You may need to work up to this amount. You could try half a teaspoon in water first and see how you feel. Chlorella is a powerhouse of nutrients and boasts a whole host of health benefits. It’s a single celled fresh water algae and is apparently the most used supplement in Japan, where most of it’s produced. Chlorella is a good source of chlorophyll, protein, vitamins A, B2, B3, iron, magnesium and zinc and is used to improve immunity, to aid digestion, may help to support your liver, may boost brain and heart health and can support the look and health of your skin. There are so many reported health benefits of chlorella and I take a shot of this or spirulina on a regular basis. I’m committing to taking a teaspoon a day for the next 8 weeks, in the run up to the London Marathon, for an extra boost. At the moment, I am using Organic Chlorella Powder, which I bought from Wholefoods but Naturya is good too.
