I've been training for the London Marathon and am aiming to raise money for the Joshua Nolan Foundation.
One of my best friends, Rory, is the chair of this charity, which was set up by an incredible lady called Laura Nolan, whose beautiful son Joshua tragically committed suicide in August 2013. Amidst her grief, Laura created this charity to help raise awareness of mental health issues leading to suicide which is, unbelievably, the biggest killer of men aged between 20 and 44 in the UK.
Scottish men are three times more likely to take their own lives than women and more young men aged 16 - 24 die through suicide than in road accidents, which is heart breaking.
Laura believes that Joshua's death and all suicides are preventable. She launched the charity with the aim of reducing the number of suicides, by helping young people with mental health issues to get the support that they need. They do this by providing counseling for those at risk of suicide, have created workshops in schools and are helping to raise awareness around mental health issues in general.
I would love to raise as much money as possible for this charity.
Please give generously.
Thank you so much
