How To Do A Home Facial by Rishi Veda

March 23, 2017 Sheena Skinner

When we lived in London, I used to visit Madhavi Patel, who runs Rishi Veda, at her home in Kensington for her incredible bespoke facials. She’s a facialist, aromatherapist and creates her own therapeutic skincare. Every Rishi Veda product is a blend of rejuvenating ingredients tailored for each individual and I absolutely love her treatments. I also love talking beauty with Madhavi as she has a deep knowledge of ingredients, aromatherapy, nutrition and Ayurveda. She's since moved to a studio in Mayfair and runs a busy practice. Here Rishi gives some golden advice about how to treat yourself to a home facial.

RISHI VEDA HOME FACIAL METHOD

I always encourage my clients to do mini facials at home at least once a week, in between their facial sessions with me.

Here’s a simple routine that I recommend to my clients to carry out so we can keep their skin looking and feeling healthy.

PREPARATION

Find a large bowl and fill it with hot water from the kettle (you can add a couple of drops of your favourite essential oil or a slice of lemon/lime or mint). Take a clean towel to place over your head. Find a peaceful spot to do your treatment and relax.

PRODUCTS

● Cleanser

● Skin Polish

● Clay Mask/Hydrating Mask

● Face Oil/Cream or Serum or cream

METHOD:

CLEANSE

Gently warm your skin with a hot flannel to relax and prepare for cleansing.

Take a 20p size of cleanser onto the balls of your fingertips and apply to the whole face, neck and décolleté, massaging in firm, circular upward motions. Massage for a few minutes and finish by rinsing with warm water to remove.

Now you are ready to gently steam. Lower your face over the bowl of hot water and place the towel over your head to trap the heat. For sensitive skin, steam for 5 minutes and for congested skin, up to 10-15 minutes.

TREAT

You're now ready to treat. Depending on what your skin needs, choose one of the following:

Apply a 20p size amount of exfoliator to face, neck and décolleté. Massage the granules in a small circular motion for a few minutes and rinse.

Smooth the face mask on your face, neck and décolleté.

Leave on for the desired time and relax.

NOURISH

Finish by feeding your skin by massaging a couple of drops of face oil, cream or serum.

For best results take it easy for the rest of the day and put your feet up.
